FILER — Bliss opened its season with a commanding conference road win.

Senior forward Armando Cordoba led the way with a hat trick, and junior forward Steven Rubio netted the fourth goal.

Bliss opens its home schedule on Thursday against conference foe Gooding. Filer plays at conference opponent Declo on Tuesday.

Community School 5, Declo 0

DECLO — Community School improved to 3-0 with a shutout road victory on Tuesday to open 3A High Desert Conference play.

The Cutthroats put the game away early with a 4-0 barrage in the first half. Cash Dart and Charlie Stumph each scored two goals, and Kai Nelson scored the fifth.

Community School coach Richard Whitelaw decalred defender Henry Cherp his team’s man of the match.

The Cutthroats continue conference play on Thursday at home against Buhl, and the Hornets face conference foe Wendell the same day.

Girls Soccer

Wendell 2, Gooding 0

GOODING – Wendell opened its 2017 season with a 2-0 shutout win against Gooding. The Trojans scored one goal in the first half, and another for insurance in the second.

Gooding was playing with only about 60 percent of its roster, as players scramble to reach the 10 days of practice required to be deemed eligible for competition.

Gooding travels to Bliss on Thursday, and Wendell hosts Declo on Thursday.

DECLO — The Cutthroats improved to 3-0 with a blowout win in their High Desert Conference-opener.

Community School has outscored its opponents 15-1.

Lily Fitzgerald and Crosby Boe each scored two goals, while Ella Viesturs and Caroline Estep scored a goal apiece.

Community School hosts Buhl on Thursday, and Declo (0-1) plays at Wendell the same day.

FILER — The Bears opened their season with a tight conference win on the road. No other details were available.

Bliss hosts conference opponent Gooding on Thursday, and Filer plays at conference foe Declo the same day.
