Buhl 24, Filer 21

BUHL – Buhl held off Filer Friday night for a win in both teams’ first Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference game of the year. The lead teetered back and forth for the duration, but Buhl’s final score sealed the win.

“This game showed how competitive our conference is,” said Buhl head coach Seth Blick.

The Indians won despite finishing with negative rushing yardage as a team. Quarterback Austin Azevedo completed nine of his 33 pass attempts for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Adam Lauda and Roy Newberry were the recipients in the end zone.

Buhl (3-2) next travels to Wood River for a nonconference matchup with the 4A Wolverines. Filer (2-4) next travels to Gooding for a conference game against the Senators.

Richfield 82, Hansen 66

RICHFIELD – Richfield outgunned Hansen to pick up its first win of the season. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but Hansen fought back to make it close. The Huskies returned an interception for a touchdown just before halftime to close the Tigers’ lead to 52-42.

Hansen led 54-52 in the third quarter, but Richfield scored several late touchdowns to secure the win. Senior Justin Wood had seven rushing touchdowns for the Tigers.

Richfield (1-4) has a bye before hosting Camas County in a Sawtooth Conference West matchup. Hansen (0-5) also has a bye before hosting Dietrich in a conference game.

Minico 56, Canyon Ridge 28

TWIN FALLS – The Spartans improved to 2-0 in the Great Basin Conference and 4-2 overall behind a record-setting performance by senior running back Larry Vega.

Vega rushed for 460 yards and seven touchdowns on 28 attempts, according to head coach Tim Perrigot. Senior quarterback John Perrigot gained 71 yards on 11 carries and also was 4-for-9 for 56 yards passing with one interception. Senior running back Tim Miller also added a touchdown on a 2-yard run.

“It was an all-around great effort by the guys,” said Perrigot. “We are looking forward to hosting Twin Falls next week.”

Minico (4-2, 2-0) hosts Twin Falls and Canyon Ridge (2-4, 1-2) hosts Bonneville on Friday.

Declo 61, American Falls 14

AMERICAN FALLS – Declo cruised again Friday night to remain undefeated on the season. In the past five games, three of which were against 3A opponents, 2A Declo has outscored opponents by nearly 33 points per game.

Standout junior Keegan Duncan followed up a seven-touchdown performance last week with four more against the Beavers. He scored his four touchdowns in four different ways — one rushing, one by kick return, one by punt return, and one by interception.

The Hornets (6-0) next host Orofino on Friday.

Lighthouse Christian 36, Murtaugh 16

TWIN FALLS – Lighthouse Christian had 361 total yards of offense (37 passing, 324 rushing) and Murtaugh totaled 270 yards (69 passing, 201 rushing) in the Sawtooth Conference West game.

Lighthouse Christian was led in rushing by Brandon Butler with 151 yards on nine attempts and two scores (97 and 25 yards), and Brandon Houser rushed 16 times and picked up 110 yards and scored on a 16-yard run.

For the Red Devils, Kade Setoki gained 109 yards on 12 rushes and scored two touchdowns.

Murtaugh (2-3, 2-3) travels to Hagerman and Lighthouse Christian (4-2, 4-1) has a bye before traveling to Castleford on Oct. 13.

Sugar-Salem 35, Jerome 20

JEROME – Total offensive yards were close Friday night as Jerome totaled 350 yards (167 rushing and 183 passing) and Sugar-Salem picked up 370 yards rushing and 60 yards passing in the Diggers’ nonconference win over the Tigers.

Jerome quarterback Jordin Myers completed 15-of-33 passing attempts for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Myers completed a 34-yard pass to Jarom Wallace and a 5-yard pass to David Harker. Colton Craig led the Tiger rushing attack with 122 yards on 11 rushes.

Jerome (2-4, 1-1) hosts Burley on Thursday.

SHOSHONE – Grace jumped out two an early two-score lead and never looked back on the road Friday night. The Grizzlies led 44-0 at halftime before Shoshone’s junior varsity players scored two late touchdowns.

Shoshone (0-5) next hosts Oakley in another Snake River Conference game next Friday.

MILNER — The Burley Fall Trap League wrapped up its fourth week on Tuesday, and the host team scored the best of the four competitors.

The Bobcats finished with a score of 89, five more than the second-place Sawtooth Clay Dusters.

Burley’s Broc Bloxham led all individuals with a score of 24. Teammate Nate Mort scored a 23, as did Oakley’s Jaxon Douglas.

GLENNS FERRY – The Pilots were defeated by the Trojans, 14-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9 Thursday night. Glenns Ferry senior Sage Wootan finished with 12 kills, two blocks, and two digs. Hannah Hedelius added three kills, four assists, and two digs and Taylor McKean had one kill and 12 assists. Glenns Ferry hosts Shoshone and Wendell is at Declo on Tuesday.

RICHFIELD – The Huskies won the North Side Conference match over the Tigers, 25-13, 25-12, 25-21. No stats were reported. Hansen hosts Lighthouse Christian and Richfield travels to Castleford on Tuesday.
