Murtaugh 61, Castleford 20

MURTAUGH – The Red Devils (2-5, 3-4) defeated the Wolves in the Sawtooth Conference West last game of the regular season. After snapping a 28-game losing streak earlier this season, they will join Castleford (2-5, 3-4) and Camas County (2-5, 3-4) in a Kansas Playoff on Monday at Gooding High School at 4 p.m. to determine who gets the final 1A-DII playoff spot.

Camas County 64, Hansen 28

FAIRFIELD – The Mushers defeated the Huskies in a crucial Sawtooth Conference West game. Camas County (2-5, 3-4) will join Murtaugh and Castleford in a Kansas Playoff on Monday at Gooding High School at 4 p.m. to determine who gets the final spot in the 1A-DII playoffs.

Kimberly 31, Filer 13

FILER – The Bulldogs finished the regular season at 6-2 and 2-1 in the Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference with the win over the host Wildcats (2-7, 0-3).

Kimberly had 304 yards of offense, compared to 202 yards for Filer. McKade Huft rushed for 120 yards on 18 attempts and scored on a 16-yard run for Kimberly.

For Filer, quarterback Garet Jardine completed 11-of-26 passes for 112 yards, including a scoring pass to Brogan Wells for 27 yards. Jardine was also the leading rusher for Filer with 49 yards on 13 runs. Kimberly was led on the defense by A.J. Garrell with 12 solo tackles.

Filer’s season ends with a record of 2-7.

Gooding 66, Buhl 12

GOODING — Gooding cruised to a Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference championship against Buhl Friday. The Senators led 60-0 at halftime.

“The guys, before moving on to anything else, wanted to get that conference championship back. We won it four years in a row, then lost it last year. That was cool for them,” said Gooding head coach Cameron Andersen.

Sophomore quarterback Shane Jennings ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more, and Cade Morris and Mike Needham had strong days on the ground.

Gooding has a bye in the first round of the 3A playoffs, then hosts Kellogg in the second round.

Carey 52, Richfield 8

CAREY – The Panthers finished the regular season at 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the Sawtooth Conference West with the win over the Tigers.

Carey totaled 399 total yards (66 passing, 333 rushing). Senior back Hilario Ruiz led the Panthers’ ground game with three carries for 109 yards, scoring on all three touches with runs of 62, 37 and 10 yards.

Senior Hayden Wayment started the Carey scoring on a 60-yard kickoff return. Senior DJ Parke added a 31-yard scoring run, Houston Hennefer caught a 22-yard pass from Parke, and the Panthers’ final score came on a Carson Simpson 39-yard run.

Richfield (1-6, 1-6) scored on an Ian Gill 1-yard run.

“Really proud of the boys for finishing the regular season strong,” said Carey head coach Lane Kirkland.

Carey will host Mackay on Thursday at 6 p.m.
