Hailey native Chase Josey won’t be returning home with any hardware, but he gave it a run in the 2018 Winter Olympics men’s snowboard halfpipe finals.
After qualifying in seventh place with a score of 83.75, Josey finished sixth in the final round with a third-run score of 88.00, four points outside of the bronze medal score (92.00 by Australian Scotty James).
Josey’s national counterpart, Shaun White, captured his third Olympic halfpipe gold medal with a 97.75 in the final run of the event.
All four Americans competed in the finals.
Josey earned an 87.75 on his first run, which placed him first for a short while. His run was good for third place until James put down his 92.00 run on his first attempt.
During his runs, Josey showed off some of the tricks that got him to this point, including a switch double crippler and switch double Michalchuk.
