Head Coach Chris Petersen: Joe is in a good spot and very confident right now, confident in a good way because he has put a lot of time in. He really feels like he is in great command of what is going on with our offense and seeing defenses, but it's a long process. He has gotten off to a good start, had a great summer and we feel good about that.

Fifth year receiver Geraldo Boldewijn: I think it is like, having Joe the first time, it was a little bit scary for everybody because he had some big shoes to fill. But now I’m seeing a little bit of Kellen Moore in Joe, the way Kellen controlled the offense and kept everybody calm on the field. I feel like Joe is doing the same thing, staying poised in hard situations and stuff like that. Giving everybody a little boost. Joe, he is the quarterback, he can throw the ball and run the rock a little bit. I think the big thing about quarterbacks is staying poised and being another coach on the field, and I really feel that Joe has made that step. I feel he made it earlier in the season but you can really tell he is another coach out there. Not a lot of people know how much time Joe spends in the film room. He lives in there, so he is always prepared. He watches as much film as the coaches, maybe more. For him being a senior, he has shown the younger guys how it’s done.

Fifth year receiver Kirby Moore: You can tell he is really confident out there, he has done his homework and we have a lot of faith in him to do his job.

Offensive coordinator Robert Prince: It’s nice to get the quarterback back; it all starts there and the offensive line. The growth he had over the year, he was a different player from day one, from Game 1, to the last (regular-season) game, to the bowl game. He did a tremendous job and had a great spring. You can tell he put in a lot of work leading those guys over the summer and he is eon’s ahead. I think he has (improved) everywhere. He reads defenses better, his velocity has gotten better, his accuracy has gotten better and he has become a better leader.

Redshirt junior receiver Matt Miller: Last year there were some question marks, but this year Joe is the guy. It is just one less thing to worry about.

Junior linebacker Blake Renaud: You see (the defense) running gassers after practice, last year it was (the offense) running gassers after practice. Joe has grown so much and the whole team sees it. We’re just so happy that he is out here killing it. I think we’ll be explosive and have one of the top offenses.

Redshirt sophomore tackle Rees Odhiambo: Joe is great at making sure we know what we are doing, and he helps us a lot.

Quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith: I think his command has taken another level. You can just see his confidence out there. I’m pretty happy with how accurate he has been. He has come in in great shape. His weight is up and he is still moving very well.
