HENDERSON, Nev. — Stefani Zimmerman capped a dominant day for the College of Southern Idaho softball team with a perfect game.
Zimmerman’s performance came in an 8-0 win, which ended CSI’s four-game Scenic West Athletic Conference sweep of the College of Southern Nevada.
In Saturday’s 8-0 win, CSI scored six runs before Zimmerman stepped into the circle. The lead grew to 7-0 in the second inning, and the Golden Eagles added their eighth run in the fifth and final inning.
Zimmerman struck out four in her five perfect innings.
At the plate for CSI, Anjalee Batchelor went 2-for-3 with a home run, Tristin Evans went 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk, Hailey Hicks went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, Kassidie Brooks went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk and Siearrah Anderson and Melanie Groenewegen each went 1-for-2 with a walk.
CSI won the first game 14-2 in six innings. After falling behind 7-0 through 2 1/2 innings, CSN cut it to 7-2 through four. The Golden Eagles put up seven runs in the sixth inning to put the run rule into effect.
Evans had another big game, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a walk. Nicole Renner went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, Mikelle Magalogo went 2-for-4 with a home run, Hannah Peterson went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk and Hicks went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
CSI’s Audrey Hegi allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in a complete game performance.
The Golden Eagles (27-7, 17-3) will host Salt Lake Community College in a four-game series beginning Friday.
