HENDERSON, Nev. — The College of Southern Idaho softball team entered the 2018 season unranked. On Saturday, it made a strong case to be inserted into the top 25.
The Golden Eagles beat No. 6-ranked Yavapai College and No. 4 Central Arizona Saturday at the College of Southern Nevada Tournament. The score in both games was 12-4, and each game ended in five innings because of the run rule.
Against Yavapai, CSI blasted six home runs. Siearrah Anderson hit two homers, while Nicole Renner, Melanie Groenewegen, Anjalee Batchelor and Tristin Evans each had one.
Renner hit another home run and a double against Central Arizona, while Groenewegen and Batchelor each went 2-for-2 with a double. Canyon Ridge High School graduate Kassidie Brooks had CSI’s best performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles.
CSI (4-1) returns to action next Thursday for the three-day Arizona Western Shootout.
