TWIN FALLS — The College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball team wrapped up its first home tournament of the season with a pair of wins.
The Golden Eagles (7-1) concluded the Idaho Central Credit Union Invitational on Saturday night with a 62-49 victory over Arizona Western College.
CSI struggled in the first half, with 15 turnovers and 20 percent field goal shooting (6-of-30), but led 25-24. A 20-10 third quarter helped the Golden Eagles pull away.
CSI sophomore Tiena Afu shot 5-of-19 from the field, but she had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Jamie Nielson had 15 points (5-of-11 on field goals, 3-of-7 on 3-pointers) and six rebounds.
Filer High School graduate Meghan Hughes only scored three points (1-of-5 from the field) but tallied seven rebounds and seven assists.
CSI will remain in Twin Falls next week for the Coca-Cola Invitational. Its first game is Friday night against Lethbridge College.
