BOISE — Boise State’s David Moa, a first-team All-Mountain West performer in 2016, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. Saturday on a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office website.

A Boise police spokeswoman said officers were alerted to a disturbance outside of a nightclub on the 100 block of South 6th Street. Two men were seen shoving, yelling and “challenging to fight,” police said. The two men, identified as Moa, 21, and Trevor Buffi, 25, were taken into custody and charged.

On his Facebook page, Buffi said he “stood up for my friend” and hurt his ankle during the scuffle. Responding to a tweet that stated that hopefully Moa can “turn it around,” Moa’s older brother, Ben, tweeted, “Trust me as his older brother David has never gotten into trouble usually that’s my job haha but he def will, I know he will.”

Moa, a junior, is one of the Broncos’ top defensive players. The San Diego native led Boise State with 8.5 sacks last season and has one sack in 2017. He appeared on several preseason award watchlists, including for the Outland Trophy (top interior lineman in college football) and Bronco Nagurski Trophy (top defensive player in college football).
