An endorsement for Liyah Babayan for Twin Falls City Council, Seat 1:

This young woman has agency, hustle and cares deeply about our community. Ms. Babayan does not shy away from opening conversations about the marginalized, including women’s stories.

My personal experiences stem from volunteering in the two productions that Liyah co-directed — yes, that controversial production by Eve Ensler. Ms. Babayan showed the volunteers the strength that can be garnered from collaborating with other community members on a volunteer project to raise awareness about violence against women.

Ms. Babayan is a volunteering machine: The Salvation Army and their work is close to her heart; book-collecting events; coat drives; the education system (i.e. three years on the Twin Falls School Board); mentoring the next generation’s entrepreneurs (she went into business at the age of 22); and taking a firm stance against bullying. There has been no limit to her generosity with her time.

Therefore, I encourage you to stand in solidarity with this young woman who wants the well-being of our community members to be the Council’s first priority. In the words of singer Carole King, Ms. Babayan is “one small voice speaking with the values we were taught as children … tell the truth; you can change the world, but you better be strong,” and she is strong. Please, take a few minutes out of your day on Nov. 7 to vote.
