Election Day is approaching, and I have a few questions for Jack Johnson, Twin Falls County sheriff candidate. I have been waiting to see if these questions would be addressed but apparently not, so I will ask.
I have read in the newspaper you are the right person for the job of Twin Falls sheriff because you have integrity, 27 years of experience in law enforcement, have more education and you are better. Integrity, more education, you are better, than what, who? None of this tells me anything especially why you would be a better sheriff than Sheriff Carter. Why do you want to be sheriff of Twin Falls County? You were employed at the Twin Falls sheriff’s office four years ago and decided to leave. Why did you leave? Why do you want to return? If you were elected sheriff, what would be the status of the present administration? Would you keep them or hire replacements? If you will replace the present administrators, who would you hire?
Now I have some comments about all this negative campaign nonsense and just a couple more questions. I do not understand how so many people could write so many letters against Sheriff Carter unless they have gotten some help and encouragement from someone.
Times-News, Tuesday, July 28, 2009, front-page story, six administrators from the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s office all submitted a letter to the Times-News in October 2008 falsely stating negative information about Tom Carter. (This was during the Carter/Tousley sheriff race.) According to the story, besides giving false information to the paper, they may have violated county policy. You were one of the six persons who signed this letter.
Questions: Can you give us a reason why this nonsense has continued into the sheriff race between you and Sheriff Carter? Can you explain how and why you got involved in the October 2008 letter nonsense? If you were elected sheriff how would you handle such a mess and what would you do to prevent this from happening again or would you do nothing?
