The Fourth of July is upon us once again. Please remember what this holiday is about. It's about freedom. Freedom to live without the ruling hand of others that seeks to gain from our labor, land, and liberty. Freedom to strive for change when change is needed, without the fear of oppression. Freedom to protest issues that affect our lives. Freedom to live the lives we choose, to worship the God we love, or not to worship at all. Freedom to make a better life for ourselves and others. Freedom to state our opinions and not to fear the outcome.
This Fourth of July, remember freedom is not free. Many good folks gave their lives to gain and preserve it. It takes hard work and sacrifice to maintain the freedoms we enjoy. Don't be lazy, apathetic or take freedom for granted, or we will lose it. Remember those who gave their lives and those who still are, here at home and abroad.
This Fourth of July hold your head high, put your shoulders back and puff out your chest. Be proud to be an American. But, don't' forget to roll up your sleeves and get to work to keep freedom's light burning.
