KETCHUM - A wildfire burned about 7 acres behind the White Cloud Condos along Trail Creek Road near Ketchum on Tuesday.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office reported the blaze was caused by a lightning strike near the Sun Valley Gun Club. The fire closed Trail Creek Road for several hours between the Sun Valley Inn and Boundary campground. No structures were reported as threatened by the blaze.

Four engines – two from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and two from the U.S. Forest Service – responded, said BLM spokeswoman Kelsey Dehoney.

No further firefighting resources were being requested as of 4:30 p.m.

The fire burned grass and brush on private land and threatened BLM land, Dehoney said.

BLM crews assisted in a unified command with Sun Valley firefighters. Both were aided by light rain falling in the area, Dehoney said.

Crews expected to contain the fire at 8 p.m. Tuesday and have it fully controlled and extinguished by 8 p.m. Wednesday.
