KETCHUM — The City of Ketchum Arts Commission and Sun Valley Resort invite the community to celebrate the unveiling of the second Cover Art gondola-car project at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The event will be held at the base of Roundhouse Express at River Run Plaza, 500 Serenade Lane, Ketchum. The project was completed with support from the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
“Mandala Gondola” is the title of the artwork created by Boise artist Rachel Teannalach. Her original artwork was transferred to a vinyl wrap, which was then applied to the gondola car. Windy City Arts of Bellevue created and applied the wrap.
The project was sponsored by Sue and Earl Cohen and Trish and Dave Wilson in celebration of the life of Joe Bauwens. Bauwens created fine-art photographic prints and played an active role in the Wood River Valley art community. Bauwen’s wife Marybeth Flowers spent five years on the Ketchum Arts Commission and is now an advisory member.
The Ketchum Arts Commission is working on plans for a third Cover Art gondola-car project for 2018.
