TWIN FALLS — The Magic Valley Dangel Foundation will hold a Polar Plunge Saturday in the Snake River, to benefit a family whose 2-year-old daughter died earlier this week.
Cassandra Luckey died Monday in an RV fire south of Twin Falls. The family had recently moved to town from Texas after losing everything in a hurricane.
The proceeds will also be distributed between various charities, including Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army, said organizer Joel Smith.
The Dangel Foundation is a group of parents who have lost children to the choking game. Smith lost a son six years ago.
“Over this last year, we’ve been revamping a bit, to include what kids want to do but can’t afford,” Smith said.
Smith and his 14-year-old daughter, Siera, are going to take the plunge.
“She said she would if I would,” Smith said.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Waterfront Park, and the plunge starts at noon. The cost is $40, or $20 with a new unwrapped toy.
