ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A suspicious package that prompted a bomb squad response and closed down several nearby streets in St. George turned out to be just a guy trying to ask a girl to a dance.
St. George police say they responded to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, after someone found a package with the word ``Army'' written on it and placed near a gazebo.
Officers say the bomb squad arrived to investigate, and streets were closed as a precaution.
Police say that during the investigation, a citizen approached them saying the package was part of a treasure hunt he'd set up for his girlfriend.
Officers determined the package contained candy and a note asking the girlfriend to a dance, and called off the investigation.
