MURTAUGH — Emergency crews cut into the side of a silo Tuesday afternoon to rescue a 16-year-old boy caught in an auger.
The teen was working about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday in the Pure Grain Commodities silo at Archer Street and Third Street when he took a step backward and became caught in the auger, the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Twin Falls County deputies, Magic Valley Paramedics and Rock Creek Fire responded to the scene where crews entered the silo to stabilize and treat the teen, the statement said. But because of the difficulty of getting a stretcher up the ladder, firefighters cut a hole in the side of the silo to rescue the teen.
The boy was taken by air ambulance to a Boise hospital about 1:50 p.m.
