BURLEY — Gaye Young, 86, of Burley, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Parke View Rehabilitation & Care in Burley.
Gaye was born June 4, 1931, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of George and Ethel Mare Jensen Rose. She graduated from Murtaugh High School and married Ralph Young on May 27, 1949, in Murtaugh. Together, they resided in Murtaugh until 1963, when they moved to Burley where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Having a special touch with children, Gaye operated an in-home day care for almost twenty years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Gaye had a kind and serving disposition and spent much of her time as a volunteer and coordinator at Cassia Regional Hospital and Parke View Care Center.
Gaye and Ralph spent their post-retirement years together doing many things. They especially loved to camp and travel with their travel trailer. She also enjoyed gardening and canning the produce they grew.
Gaye is survived by her son and his wife, Richard (Kim Errecart) Young of Burley; two grandcildren, Robert “Txotx” Young and Brooke Beach; three great-grandchildren, Tristen, Jamie and Heather; and three great-great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alex and Harper Nuova.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ralph; her parents; and her son, David Allen Young.
Gaye’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the United Methodist Church, 450 E. 27th St., in Burley, with the Rev. D. Scott Allen officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
