June 28, 1950 – November 1, 2017
Michael was a kind and intelligent man who loved his wife, Debbie Gorrell-Paddock and daughter, Adrienne Leahy Paddock beyond measure.
Mike passed away on November 1, 2017 in Murray, Utah surrounded by his family and friends.
Mike was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on June 28, 1950 to James and Helen Paddock. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and upon graduation he moved west to attend Utah State University and to live closer to his sister Patty.
He married Debbie on May 26, 1979 and on April 8, 1984 his daughter Adrienne was born and she became his heart and soul.
Mike graduated from the College of Southern Idaho with honors in the Aquaculture Program in 1991. He retired from The Nevada Division of Wildlife as Assistant Manager of Lake Mead Fish Hatchery.
He had a wry sense of humor. Mike was known as a loyal friend and avid reader who enjoyed discussing literature and sports with others. Although Mike was a quiet man, his influence on family and friends is indelible. Debbie and Mike’s house was always open to friends and to those in need of comforting or help.
Mike often spoke of memories of riding the trains with his dad all through the United States and sailing down the Mississippi into the Gulf of Mexico.
Mike is survived by: his wife, Debbie; daughter, Adrienne of Boulder City, NV; sisters Patty Smith of SLC, UT and Peggy Carrothers and Ruth Runde, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; and sister-in-law, Jan Paddock of Chicago, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two longtime friends, Steve Rivas and Doug McCaughan and his canine companion, Buddy Ann.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.
A celebration of life will be in late spring of 2018.
