May 21, 1939 – February 7, 2018
RUPERT — Loylla Marie Draper Pickering, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Rupert, Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
She was born May 21, 1939, to Wallace LaVern and Loylla (Munsee) Draper and was raised in Paul, Idaho. She graduated from Minico High School in 1957. Marie married her eternal companion and hardworking husband, Bill Pickering, November 26, 1966, who preceded her in death in April 2005. Marie was very close to her four brothers and sister and enjoyed talking with them on the phone and at their homes and getting together with them frequently to grab a bite to eat and, of course, to talk!
Marie was an amazing quilter known for her meticulous stitching – they are beautiful from front to back. Marie was a kind, loving and a friendly person, who could talk to a total stranger like she had known them for years.
Marie is survived by her three children, Robert (Amy) Pickering, Melissa (Sam) Smith and Sharlet Pickering; six grandchildren, Jackson Barber (Sharlet), Hannah and Hailey Smith (Melissa), Andrew, Rachel and Madelyn Pickering (Robert); one brother and wife, Lyle and Julie Draper; her sister and husband, Betty and Dave Barrett; and her many nieces; nephews; and cousins. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Please join us in celebrating her life at 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—Rupert 1st Ward (the former Rupert Tabernacle), 806 G Street in Rupert. Burial will be in Paul Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church.
