December 27, 1926 – September 7, 2017

PAUL — Verna Lucille (Lind) Firth, 90, of Paul, Idaho passed away September 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 27, 1926, in Brigham City, Utah, to Raymond August and Verna Larue (Hansen) Lind and was welcomed home by her older sister, Amy Marie. When she was only two years old, her mother died and she became her “daddy’s” shadow. Some of her fondest memories included helping him on their ranch in Lynn, Utah. A few years later her dad married Mildred (Barlow) Lind and three more siblings were born into the family; Elden, Anita, and Nila.

She attended first through eighth grade in a one-room school house in Lynn, then continued her studies at Box Elder High School in Brigham City. She graduated from Oakley High School in Oakley, Idaho.

On January 30, 1948, she married John Ray Firth in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple and together they had seven children: Linda Rae, Verna LeAnn, John Kent, Connie Gay, DawnL, Raymond, and Paul Derrell. They lived and worked on their ranch in Lynn until they moved to Tremonton, Utah to be closer to schools. After a few years when the kids got older they settled on a small farm in Paul, Idaho. Her love for the ranch continued through-out the rest of her life. If she wasn’t busy at home she was busy at the ranch.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Primary President and Relief Society President as well as many other callings, and was a faithful visiting teacher.

She had a love for animals; horses, cows, chickens, cats, and dogs. She was very talented and passed her talents on to her children and grandchildren. She would crochet, bake the best bread, cookies, and egg cake; garden, quilt, embroider, and was also a very good artist. She has painted and drawn many beautiful pictures.

She is survived by her children, Linda R. Zollinger, Connie G. (Reid) Smith, DawnL (Frank) Poole, Paul D. (Kati) Firth; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Firth, 32 grandchildren; and 27 great- grandchildren.
