December 15, 1942 – November 19, 2017
Jack Clifford Estes Sr. of Boise passed away on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at the age of 74 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. He was a good man, a wonderful husband, father and friend.
Jack was born in Burley, ID on December 15, 1942 to Woody and Cora Estes. He attended schools in Halfway, OR, Declo and Burley ID. Jack was a member of the FFA, participated in track and field, played baseball, football, and basketball. After high school he met Kathy Patterson of Rupert, ID and they were married in 1964 and then attended Idaho State University.
After a brief stint as an insurance agent, Jack worked for many years in the retail business for Osco Drug and then Skaggs Drug. He enjoyed the challenge of new store development. During those years he was transferred many times, living in Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Illinois, Washington, Arizona, and Colorado. After retiring from the retail industry, he went back to school at the age of 50 and studied massage therapy. He had lived in Boise for many years and retired in 2010. That year Jack and Kathy rescued Paki who was to become Jacks best buddy and always to be found at Jacks side or on his lap.
As a young man, Jack enjoyed coaching and refereeing Little League games, and thoroughly enjoyed teaching and watching his kids play all kinds of sports. As a family they enjoyed exploring the many different places they lived, especially the museums, historical sites, and parks. Friday nights were reserved for family enjoying their favorite tradition of pizza night.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathy Estes, their two children Jack Jr., Chandra (Ed Cope), brother Bill (Dixie) Estes of Declo, ID., nieces Tamara and Melody, many great nephews and nieces, and Paki. Jack was preceded in death by his mother Cora Allen Estes and father William Woodson Estes.
The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at St. Alphonsus that cared for Jack over the past few weeks.
A celebration of life gathering for Jack will be planned for spring 2018. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.summersfuneral.com. 208-343-6393
