December 2, 1926 – October 26, 2017
Edgar “Gail” Dayley, Private First Class Marine World War II Vet, and longtime resident of Burley, Idaho died at home October 26, 2017, with a loving family supporting him, at the age of 90.
Born December 2, 1926, Gail is well known for being a cheeky witty Irish man, some of the family and his friends would say he was a real live walking and loving leprechaun, who you never knew what he might say or do next. He was known as ‘spry even at 90 and never idle’, “a good man’, “positive and upbeat’, “A truly stubborn yet loving Irishman“with a ‘heart of gold”.
He married Nancy Pauline (Paun) Morgan May 10, 1945, they lived together as husband and wife for 51 years until her death in 1996. Gail worked most his life as a meat cutter and opened many stores for Joe Albertson. Gail was multi-talented artist, he created many beautiful paintings, rock art, melted aluminum sculptures, and wrote poetry. He was loved by everyone. We have many memories of him, he made sure of that, he was....simply hilarious. We are thankful for the many years that we had to laugh and love with him. That loving man will be missed more than anyone can know.
Graveside inurnment service for Gail will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Pella Cemetery, 400 South 350 West in Burley, Idaho. Military honors by the Mini Cassia Veterans Organization and the U.S Marine Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be given in Gail’s name to your local, no kill, animal shelter or donate pet food to your Sheriff’s office, who help the elderly get food for their pets if they cannot afford it.
Our best friend and an unparalleled Father, Daddy, Grandfather, Papa, brother, son, uncle, neighbor and friend. We will miss you so much. Thank you for all the love you gave to us as it filled our hearts and souls. So full of life, love and so full of the Irish Blarney.
