September 15, 1930 – January 15, 2018

Dwan was born September 15, 1930 in Seattle, Washington to Earl and Irene Thompson. He was raised in Seattle and after his enlistment in the Army he returned to Seattle to become a member of Lathers Local 104. He also joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1 and was a lifelong member.

On November 22, 1952 Dwan married Phyllis L. Gordon. They moved to southern California where Dwan became a member and officer of Lathers Local 440 in Santa Ana. Dwan was an accomplished carpenter, as well as lather. One of his jobs was to help build the new southern California attraction: Disneyland. The ship in the popular ride “Pirates of the Caribbean” is one of his enduring accomplishments. Dwan continued to be a member of Local 440 until his passing. In the first 15 years of their marriage, Dwan and Phyllis traveled extensively with Dwan working in many locations across the nation. Dwan shared that he not only enjoyed his work, he also enjoyed meeting so many different people across the land.

In 1977 Dwan and Phyllis moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where Dwan built their home. They started their own business, Thompson Acoustical, which supported the construction industry. In 1991 they sold the company and Dwan and Phyllis transitioned into retirement. Dwan enjoyed an active retirement, camping, rock hounding and fishing, which he and Phyllis did a great deal of across the seven western states. He especially enjoyed spending the winter months at Lake Havasu in Arizona.

In 1996, Phyllis, Dwan’s beloved wife of over 44 years passed away. Eventually, Dwan re-connected with his teenage sweetheart and companion Paula Crofoot. Dwan and Paula enjoyed many years together, as well, until her death in 2015.

Dwan is survived by his sister Betty, nieces Charry and Jean, nephews Bob and Jim, and their respective spouses and children, as well as Paula’s children; Jackie, Mickie, Leslie, Kathy and Paul, and their respective spouses and children, all of whom Dwan loved so much, and was, and always will be, so much loved by all.

Dwan will be interred at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Twin Falls, Idaho.

A drop-in gathering of Dwan’s friends and family will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2018, between noon and 1:30pm at Dwan’s home. Please call or text an RSVP to (253) 370-9645 or (253) 370-9646.
