TWIN FALLS — It’s no secret it’s a severe flu season in Idaho and nationwide.

How many influenza-related deaths have been reported so far? The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare puts out weekly reports with that information on its website.

Here are the most recent statistics, from the week of Jan. 21-27:

51: Number of flu-related deaths in Idaho this season

49: Were among people older than 50

5: Were among south-central Idaho residents, all of whom were older than 50

29: Deaths within the area served by the Panhandle Health District in northern Idaho — more than half the total number statewide.

2.94: Percentage of outpatient visits in Idaho for influenza-like illnesses

7.2: Percentage of emergency room visits in Idaho for influenza-like illnesses
