TWIN FALLS • Jarrito’s Mexican Restaurant opens this weekend in Twin Falls.
A grand opening celebration is slated for Saturday, with a 15 percent discount on all menu items. The restaurant is at 565 Washington St. North.
Sunday, all fathers who are accompanied by their families will get a 50 percent discount for Father’s Day.
The restaurant’s hours will be from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Jarrito’s owner Jovita Ocampo says the restaurant’s name means “clay jars or jugs” that are used frequently in her homeland to hold hot drinks such as atole, a traditional hot beverage that features a mixture of fruit, cinnamon and masa (corn meal).
Jarrito’s signature drink will be atole, and the restaurant will also feature the popular sodas which have the same name.
Jarrito’s Mexican Restaurant says it will be the only Mexican restaurant in Twin Falls with a traditional spit to roast pork tacos (tacos al pastor). Pambazos, sopes, tlacoyos, gorditas and tostadas de tinga are other Mexico City favorites on the menu.
