HEYBURN — U.S. Sen. Jim Risch of Idaho named Double L of Heyburn as the “Small Business of the Month” for December.
The company will be recognized in the Congressional Record of the Senate, according to a press release issued by the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
“Not only does Double L provide high-quality equipment that enables potato farmers to increase production, expand their harvest, and achieve their America dream, they allow more people around the world to enjoy Idaho’s exceptional potatoes,” Risch said. “Since taking over as CEO in 2004, Chris Hunsaker has worked hard to expand Double L into a global presence, while staying true to the company’s core values and commitment to Idaho potatoes. They are a prime example of the American entrepreneurial spirit that drives innovative solutions to empower consumers.”
The company was founded in 1976 by potato growers Leland Klinger and Lynn Johnson, who started the company by manufacturing their own equipment.
Since then Double L has not lost the original manufacturing mindset, while continuing to expand, Risch said.
In 2004, the company moved from American Falls to Heyburn.
The company ships its equipment to New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, Thailand, China, Isreal and Egypt.
Risch honors small businesses in the Senate each month.
