MALTA — Two Cassia County schools pitched in to provide relief for hurricane Harvey victims.
Raft River schools collected donations last week that were transported by King Farm Trucking in Tremonton to Texas.
Rachel Jensen, school counselor spearheaded Project H.A.T.S. (Helping a Texas School) drive in Malta. The effort began at the Box Elder School District and Jensen “wanted to give our students an opportunity to share.”
“We thought we would just piggyback on their efforts,” Jensen said.
“This community was in a similar situation with flooding this spring,” said Debbie Critchfield, spokeswoman for the school district. “They experienced generosity pouring into town.”
Jensen said the flooding this spring is still fresh in students’ minds.
Seventh graders at Burley Junior High School also held a hurricane relief effort last week.
