BURLEY — A Minidoka County couple delivered the first New Year’s baby at Cassia Regional Hospital on Jan. 1.
Paul and Tenille Cundick’s baby boy, Grant Stevens Cundick, was born two weeks early at 7:45 a.m. He weighed 8 pounds, four ounces and was 20 inches long, the hospital said.
The Cundicks were celebrating New Year’s Eve with extended family and a few hours after going to bed early on New Year’s Day, Tenille wondered if she was going into labor.
Five hours later the baby was born.
Tenille and the baby are doing well.
“Of all of my births, I liked this hospital experience the best,” Tenille Cundick said. “I really appreciate everybody here, they are what we have come to expect from Idahoans, very kind and easy-going.”
The baby joins three brothers and a sister.
A job promotion with Intermountain Healthcare brought Paul and his family to the community in September.
Intermountain Healthcare is the parent company of Cassia Regional Hospital.
