BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Ada County officials have released the name of a 23-year-old man who drowned while boogie boarding in the Boise River over the weekend.
The coroner's office said Monday that Taylor Wood died of accidental drowning.
Witnesses say Wood had been boogie boarding Saturday afternoon using a rope tied to a tree. They said the last time the saw him he was pulling himself to shore with the rope. The witnesses walked away for a short time and when they returned, Wood was under water.
The friends called for help, pull him to shore and started CPR. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Officials say it appears Wood's boogie board became caught in some tree branches. The board's ankle strap was still attached to Wood's leg.
