TWIN FALLS — The editor and the publisher of the Times-News will speak at this month’s Herrett Forum on Tuesday, with a focus on standards in journalism.
The free forum takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Rick Allen Room at the College of Southern Idaho’s Herrett Center. Times-News editor Matthew Christensen and publisher Travis Quast will talk about what went on behind the scenes during the newspaper’s award-winning coverage of refugee issues. They’ll also discuss how Russians and others used “fake news” to thrust the city into a national spotlight.
The speakers will also talk about their experiences in a rapidly changing media landscape.
Quast has been publisher of the Times-News, the Voice in Mini-Cassia and the Elko Daily Free Press in Elko, Nev., since 2013. He is a Magic Valley native and a 1989 graduate of Burley High School.
Christensen’s career as a reporter began at the Times-News, and he returned to the paper in 2015 as its editor. He is on the board of directors for the Associated Press Media Editors.
