BOISE • The latest polls show Republicans Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, U.S. Sen. Jim Risch and Idaho’s two congressmen are well ahead of their Democratic challengers.
The CBS News/New York Times/YouGov poll, done over the course of July, shows Otter with 56 percent of the vote compared to 34 percent for A.J. Balukoff, when voters leaning toward one or the other are counted. Risch is ahead of Democrat Nels Mitchell 62 percent to 30 percent.
The numbers aren’t broken down by congressional district, but it has Republicans ahead of Democrats for the House 58 percent to 34 percent. Incumbents Mike Simpson and Raul Labrador are fending off challengers Richard Stallings and Shirley Ringo, respectively.
