GOODING — If you live in Gooding County, in addition to voting on city council members and a mayor, you can expect to see at least one ballot measure on Nov. 7.

Here’s a look at the measures that will be on ballots:

  • Gooding: You’ll be asked to mark “in favor” or “against” for a city advisory vote — basically, a ballot measure designed to seek your opinion.

The question is whether the Gooding City Council should enter a resolution to include the city within the Gooding Fire District. It means fire protection services within the Gooding city limits would be provided by the fire district.

And if you’re a property owner, you’d have to pay a district property tax levy.

  • Gooding: The Gooding Fire District is seeking a permanent override levy.

It would increase the district’s budget from $157,893 to $452,538 beginning in October 2018 for ongoing maintenance and operational expenses, and purchasing equipment.

It would allow the district to increase the property tax levy by $45,000 beginning in October 2018 to maintain and operate four cemeteries.
