BOISE • A Boise woman has filed to take on U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson in the Republican primary in May.
This isn’t Lisa Marie’s first time running for Congress — she primaried Raul Labrador, who represents Idaho’s other congressional district, in 2014. She is a student and children’s activist, according to a 2014 Spokane Spokesman-Review article covering that year’s election.
Simpson has represented the southern and eastern parts of the state since 1999. He defeated Bryan Smith, who is affiliated with the party’s more conservative wing, in the 2014 primary and went on to beat former Democratic congressman Richard Stallings in the general election.
