JEROME — Beginning Tuesday, Horizon Elementary first- and second-graders can receive free dental sealants and fluoride varnish to help prevent cavities, as part of Delta Dental of Idaho’s Grins on the Go program. This service will go through Jan. 23.
Jefferson Elementary first- and second- graders can be recipients of the program beginning Jan. 24.
Dental sealants fill the deep grooves of back teeth where 90 percent of cavities occur; fluoride varnish helps protect the smooth surfaces of teeth. Grins on the Go clinics take place on-site as part of Delta Dental of Idaho’s community outreach effort. To receive these free cavity-prevention treatments, children must attend Horizon or Jefferson schools and have a parent or guardian sign a health history and permission form — obtained from the school.
The Grins on the Go clinic does not bill Medicaid or private insurance. There is no cost associated with this program. More information: call Delta Dental Community Outreach at 208-489-3541.
