MINIDOKA COUNTY — A man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after shooting at Idaho State Police during an attempted traffic stop, according to ISP.

At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a trooper tried to get Cody L. Hinerman, 25, to pull over near the intersection of 300 South and 300 West in Minidoka County. Hinerman, who had committed multiple traffic violations, refused to stop and kept driving north toward Rupert.

Gun shots were fired at the trooper from Hinerman’s car during the subsequent chase, but neither the car nor the trooper were hit, police said.

Hinerman stopped about 10 minutes later and was arrested without incident. Two other men who were in the car with Hinerman were interviewed and released.

The shooting is under investigation by the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office.
