TWIN FALLS • A Twin Falls grand jury indicted Damon Wayne Azure, 32, on a charge of first-degree murder Wednesday, said Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs.
Azure’s original charge of first-degree murder was dropped, but the new charges are the same, Loebs said.
Azure, who is from Rupert, is accused of shooting and killing his brother Seanachan Azure, 31, on Feb. 12 near Twin Falls Park, along the Snake River Canyon north of Kimberly.
Twin Falls County sheriff’s deputies were called to 3500 E. 4070 N. at about 11:20 a.m. that day to check on a report of a possible vehicle-pedestrian accident. When they arrived, they said they found Seanachan Azure lying in a pool of blood.
Damon Azure is also charged with a count of resisting and obstructing officers. Twin Falls County sheriff’s deputies said Azure fought them before and after arrest and continued to be uncooperative once in jail.
Damon Azure is scheduled for a pretrial hearing for the resisting and obstructing charge March 6. He is being held without bond in the Twin Falls County Jail.
