RUPERT — A Boise man will spend time in county jail and five years on supervised probation for child enticement.
Awfeed Fareed Isho, 26, was charged with the felony in August 2016 after Rupert police said he drove more than two hours to meet a 15-year-old girl to have sex at a Rupert swimming hole.
Instead of meeting the girl, Isho found police waiting for him instead.
Isho was sentenced Monday to 30 days in county jail and two to five years in prison. The prison sentence was suspended, and Isho was given credit for already serving five days in county jail.
He was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation.
Isho pleaded guilty to the charge.
Police said the girl responded to Isho’s Craigslist ad listing a car for sale and during the online conversation he began trying to talk the girl into meeting him to have sex.
The girl told her mother, who turned the information over to police.
As detectives continued the online conversation they told Isho multiple times the girl was underage but he still tried to talk her into having sex with him.
Pretending to be the girl, detectives set up a meeting with Isho and when he arrived at the swimming location, police arrested him.
Isho told police that he had initiated sexual conversations with the girl but was meeting her to warn her about the danger of meeting men online.
