TWIN FALLS — An Olive Garden spokeswoman says the restaurant chain is considering a restaurant in the Twin Falls area.
In an email to the Times-News, she said the company was exploring several locations, including this area, but that no final decisions had been made.
Residents here have speculated and hoped for an Olive Garden in the Magic Valley for years. The spokeswoman’s comments mark the most definitive acknowledgement yet that the company is eyeing Twin Falls.
But if an Olive Garden is on the horizon, the company still has several hurdles to clear.
The city has not received any building permits or zoning requests for an Olive Garden, Zoning and Development Manager Renee Carraway-Johnson said. The Magic Valley Mall would not confirm whether the restaurant chain was pursing space in the sprawling retail developments the mall manages near the canyon rim, a long-rumored potential location for the restaurant.
And the state’s liquor license website also shows no licenses have been issued for Olive Garden in Twin Falls County.
