Students graduate from University of Kansas

LAWRENCE — Two Magic Valley students were among the 1,050 graduates from the University of Kansas this summer.

They are Marla Jean Van Tassell, Jerome, Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health; and Diana Kay Wright, Twin Falls, Master of Science in Education.

Some graduates have participated in school and departmental recognition events. Others will choose to participate in KU’s annual Commencement ceremony, which will take place May 13.

Paul native receives scholarship at S. College of Optometry

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Eric Woodward of Paul, was recently honored with the Mauldin Family Scholarship at Southern College of Optometry. SCO alumnus M. Irvin Mauldin established the scholarship in memory of his mother and aunt. The honor comes with a $1,000 monetary award.

Woodward is the son of Ruth and Rodger Woodward. He is a graduate of Minico High School in Rupert and Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Each year, Southern College of Optometry recognizes its most outstanding students at a convocation ceremony in the fall semester. For the 2017-18 school year, more than 75 students were honored with awards and scholarships worth more than $125,000.

Eastern Oregon University announces spring 2017 graduates

LA GRANDE, Ore.—Burley resident Cristian U Anguiano Marin, Anthropology/Sociology, recently graduated from Eastern Oregon University. The university awarded 639 bachelor’s degrees, 107 master’s degrees, five associate degrees and two certificates during the 2016-17 academic year.
