The Twin Falls Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honored local students named as DAR Good Citizens at an awards reception Feb. 10.
The DAR Good Citizens scholarship program recognizes high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Each high school selects one winner, who then competes in the chapter contest. Students are judged on the basis of a timed essay on a patriotic theme as well as their academic achievements, school activities, community service and letters of recommendation.
The chapter winners are: first place, Hollie Maccabee, Twin Falls High School; second place, Dalene Hunter, Hansen High School; and third place (tie), Ethan Bates, Xavier Charter School, and Eleise Ramos, Raft River High School. A special Alexa Brown Memorial Scholarship was presented to Nellie Moreno, Magic Valley High School. Other school winners were Adrian De Kruyf, Castleford High School; Olivia Gines, Wendell High School; Jane Osterhout, Declo High School; Samaria Schroeder, Kimberly High School; Abigail Suitter, Murtaugh High School; Janae Swenson, Jerome High School; Jordan Williams, Lighthouse Christian School; and Sage Wootan, Glenns Ferry High School.
