BURLEY — The College of Southern Mini-Cassia Center is offering several community enrichment courses.
“Conversational Spanish/Everyday Spanish Session 2” with instructor Angel Barboza, 6:30-9 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 22 through March 5, at the Mini-Cassia Center, Room B11. No class on Feb. 19. This is a continuation course from last semester; new students will need the instructor’s permission to join. Learn to speak Spanish and practice grammar for conversations in a variety of settings. Cost is $75.
“Wonderful Winter Landscape Watercolor” with instructor Leslie Redhead, 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 25 through March 1, in Room A14. Learn how to pour, splatter and salt a snow-filled winter landscape in watercolor and bring light into a snowy scene. All levels are welcome. Supply list will be provided at registration. Cost is $90.
“Pencils and Chalk Pastels” course with instructor Shirley Stauffer, 12:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 30 through Feb. 27, in Room A14. Learn basic drawing fundamentals and about drawing tools, paper surfaces, gray scales and tips for improvement. The course is for beginners and advanced students. Supply list will be provided at registration. Cost is $40.
“Computer Basics Windows 10” with instructor Shirley Stauffer, 9-9:50 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 6 through March 1, in Room A25. Learn about your computer: setting up an e-mail account, navigating the Internet, and the basics of the pre-installed software. Cost is $50.
“February Food Science” with instructor Rick Parker, 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 7 through Feb. 28, in Room A14. Learn to make and preserve healthy, wholesome foods and sweet treats. Topics include Out-of-Season Jam and Jelly Making: Baking Breads, Cakes and Cookies; Dehydrating and Preserving Fruits and Vegetables; Art of Taffy Pulling; and Jerky, Seasoning and Marinades. Cost is $25 per session or $80 for the month’s series.
