TWIN FALLS — The entry gate to Shoshone Falls is closed to motorists and pedestrians due to icy, hazardous road conditions.

The city of Twin Falls made the announcement Friday.

“Additional signage has been posted at the gate to remind drivers and pedestrians that the road is unsafe,” the city said in a statement. “Shoshone Falls may also be seen from the viewing area above the entry gate; however, drivers are encouraged to use caution as there may be ice accumulation on the upper-grade.”

City officials are asking the public not to go beyond the entry gate. But you can still view Shoshone Falls from the Canyon Rim Trail, which can be accessed at Eastland Drive and Pole Line Road. Another trail head is at Hankins Road, north of Falls Avenue.

The city plans to clear ice off the roadway when it’s safe to operate equipment.
