When are church services?

Worship services are held Sundays at 11 a.m.; Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m.

Tell us about the church leadership:

The Rev. Kathy Abend began her ministry at the church on July 1, 2011. She earned a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill. Before entering the ministry she and her husband lived in Blackfoot, where they raised their four children.

What does the church believe?

Burley UMC is a vital and growing church directed by the pastor and a large group of active lay people.

We believe in a loving God that is known to us through God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We live our faith through loving God and loving our neighbor. We believe God’s grace is available to all people. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

What’s a typical service?

Our worship services are a lively blend of traditional and contemporary Christian worship styles. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month and all people are welcome to partake.

Do you offer childcare?

We have a children’s sermon every Sunday and child care is provided.

Tell us about your youth ministry:

During the school year we offer Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. Sundays. Our youth group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays. Krazy Kids Praize is a children’s choir that performs during our worship service. During the summer months our youth go to church camp and participate in Vacation Bible School. Our youth group goes on mission trips, works in various service projects in the community and participates in a 30-hour famine to raise money and awareness of world hunger.

What community service does your church provide?

Our congregation serves the community through a generous assistance fund donated by the people and offered to anyone in need. We give away food, serve community meals, help the Oasis Mission, help the Senior Citizen Center, provide Christmas gifts to those in need, resource people to appropriate agencies, offer spiritual guidance and prayer.
