HAILEY - Fire crews are tightening their grip on the 110,000-acre fire that threatened homes and forced widespread evacuations in the Wood River Valley last week.
Firefighters have battered the Beaver Creek Fire into 47 percent containment, and full containment is estimated for Saturday, Aug. 31.
Fire behavior is now moderate compared to the extreme behavior seen last week, and the nighttime fire activity that plagued firefighting efforts has decreased significantly.
However, the danger hasn't passed just yet.
The Wood River Valley, along with nearly the entire state of Idaho, is under a Red Flag Warning today, which indicates high potential for fire growth. Both dry and wet thunderstorms are expected in the area, along with wind gusts of more than 40 mph.
The warning remains in effect until midnight Thursday.
Some mandatory evacuations are still in place and other areas are under pre-evacuation alert.
