KETCHUM — Join avid amateur astronomer and president of the Magic Valley Astronomical Society Tim Frazier for Astronomy at the Garden from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden, 11 Gimlet Road, four miles south of Ketchum. Frazier will have a few of his favorite telescopes on hand. The program will start inside at 7 p.m. with a basic night-sky orientation — then move outside to observe deep sky objects, early winter constellations and the planet Neptune. Kristin Fletcher, SBG education director, will share lore about constellations visible with the naked eye.

The cost is: Sawtooth Botanical Garden members $10, nonmembers $12 and children under 16 free. Dress warmly for the weather; bring binoculars or spotting scopes if you have them. Space is limited to 20 participants. Advance registration is required — call 208-726-9358 to pay and reserve your spot. Details at sbgarden.org. More information: Kristin@sbgarden.org.
