KETCHUM — The Environmental Resource Center and Wood River Valley tracker Ann Christensen will host a winter tracking workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 30. Christensen will begin the program at the ERC office, 471 Washington Ave. N., Ketchum, by familiarizing participants with local winter animals, their life histories and winter adaptations while laying out the basics of animal tracking. She will then lead participants on a snowshoe tracking adventure through the fields and woods north of Ketchum.
Christensen — who studied with tracker and author James Halfpenny — has been introducing valley residents to secret stories left in the snow for decades. Novice and experienced trackers of all ages are encouraged to participate in the workshop. Bring snowshoes, warm clothes, water and curiosity. A suggested donation of $10/ERC members and $20/non-members would be appreciated.
Additional ERC winter tracking workshops with Ann Christensen will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 13 and Feb. 10.
