BOISE — Idaho Fish and Game announced several rule changes to this year’s hunting and trapping seasons.
Statewide, the closing date to hunt cottontails will be extended to March 31.
Turkey hunters will get an increased daily bag limit to two turkeys in the spring; for fall hunts, the daily bag limit will align with the number of tags a hunter possesses.
Apply for spring controlled turkey hunts from Feb. 1 through March 1. More information: go to https://idfg.idaho.gov/press/fg-commission-ups-daily-bag-limits-turkeys-2018-19 by Feb. 1. For those who don’t have internet access, new rules booklets are expected to be out in mid-to-late February at regional Fish and Game offices.
Additional changes for hunting turkeys have been made to the following regions: Panhandle, Clearwater, southwest Idaho, southeast Idaho and Salmon. Interested persons can see the full changes at the same website.
