SUN VALLEY • The Fly Sun Valley Alliance and the Sun Valley Resort teamed up to present “Ski for Air Service Day”: a full-day $40 lift ticket for skiing at Sun Valley on Jan. 27; an apres ski party from 3 to 5 p.m. at River Run Lodge featuring live music; and a raffle offering prizes including four roundtrip tickets on Alaska Airlines.
A limited number of the discounted $40 lift tickets will be available in advance through Jan. 26 at these ski and snowboard shops: Sturtevants, Board Bin, PKs Ski & Sports, Formula Sports, Ski Tek, Elevation Sports in Twin Falls and Newt & Harold’s in Boise. No $40 lift tickets will be sold on Jan. 27.
The ski shops will also offer 50 percent off on demos and rentals for the day, and several Wood River Valley lodging properties will offer 50 percent off nightly room rentals for the weekend.
All proceeds from the sale of the “Ski for Air Service” lift tickets and raffle tickets will go to support the nonprofit FSVA’s efforts to maintain and increase commercial air service to Sun Valley. Flights to Friedman Memorial Airport bring in more than 41,000 visitors and part-time residents each year with an annual estimated economic impact of more than $70 million in direct spending during their visits, event organizers said.
“Last year’s Ski for Air Service Day was a sellout and smashing success ... You can get a fantastic deal on skiing Sun Valley while supporting our critical air service initiatives,” said Eric Seder, president of Fly Sun Valley Alliance.
In addition to the four Alaska Airlines tickets, valued at $2,200, the apres ski party’s raffle offers prizes such as a two-night rental of a two-bedroom Sun Valley condo (a $600 value) and gifts certificates for local businesses. “Ski for Air Service Day” lift ticket purchasers will receive 2-for-1 vouchers that allow them to get double the amount of raffle tickets they purchase. Raffle tickets cost $10 each, available at participating ski shops and all day on Jan. 27 at the River Run and Warm Springs day lodges.
