SUN VALLEY • Sun Valley Resort will re-open The Konditorei, a restored German-Austrian-style patisserie, on Dec. 20.

Sun Valley’s new director of culinary operations, John Murcko, re-invented the 50-year-old restaurant’s cocoas and coffees, and breakfast and lunch menus will feature crepes, souffles, soups, salads, open-faced sandwiches and spaetzle.

Breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. and the lunch menu from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Expect a 20-foot pastry display, servers dressed in custom-made Austrian uniforms and Kerry Christensen’s 4-8 p.m. fireside zither performances during the holiday season.

“The grand re-opening of the Konditorei has been long awaited,” Sun Valley spokesman Jack Sibbach said. “With the expertise of chef Murcko on hand, Sun Valley is reinforcing its reputation for world-class cuisine as well as world-class skiing and snowboarding.”

Murcko is transforming the resort’s 14 restaurants.

“I wanted to create a restaurant unique from others on the mountain,” Murcko said. “The Konditorei offers visitors an authentic approach to Austrian dining that they won’t find anywhere else.”
